When I visit a new place I check websites and travelers’ posts for reviews, tips and practical information. And although this is making travel more accessible and comfortable, what I often find missing among these posts is a conscious, ethical and social dimension.

Travel is rewarding and fun but in the context of the current climate crisis – plastic pollution – species extinction – extreme weather events – drinking water scarcity – deforestation – and social injustice – we need to travel with care, consideration and compassion.

The world has opened up – we can travel from pole to pole and climb the highest mountain, future travel will take us into outer space. An increased population means that more and more of us will be traveling and seeking adventure but is this sustainable?

We also must keep in mind our cultural differences and be open for what comes our way.

This is how wimmee.com came to be. Here I share my experiences and information that may make you think differently and deepen your understanding of the places you visit and the people you meet.
